Technically this next designer is American, but she spends most of her time in Canada so I’m including her in my Canadian talent roundup. Cynthia Adelson holds a special place to me because I did a stage (mini-internship) at her firm and she was THE BEST! She took me under her wing, showed me the different aspects of her job all the while being so generous with her time and completely down to earth. She also happens to be a fabulous designer! I love how she accentuated the architectural details in this loft. When a space is so vast, you need big pieces to anchor things. That couch looks like it can fit 10! And the black frame to the windows beautifully draws the eye to the view outside. So good! Thank you Cynthia, it was such a pleasure to get to see you in action! Another Canadian talent! I needed to show this pic because what Vanessa Francis did is so smart! She put a sliding door between her den and her gym. The molding on the door create architectural detail and also when the door is fully closed it integrates beautifully. I bet most people just assume it’s a wall! The glossy paint in a moody colour adds a nice dose of drama as well. Such a clever idea!
